glock 17 problems

Glock 17 Problems - Glock is known for making some of the most popular handguns on the market and for good reason. Simple, reliable and rugged handguns that spark interest in the industry - funny, right? When you start a plan that works and works well, many people end up with "updates" and adjustments as a marketing strategy. The latest Glock 17 (Gen-5) is a handgun trusted by many in the LE and military community. Let's take a closer look at this gun in this Glock 17 Gen-5 review.

I believe it's only fair for me to be honest and say that I own a few Glocks (including a Gen-4 Glock 17.)  So maybe I'm biased by my experience. With that in mind, I don't like everything about Glock - and I probably never will. My personal opinion is that it is important to look beyond brand loyalty, especially when it comes to guns.

Glock 17 Problems

It's no secret that the Glock 17 holds a prestigious position in the gun community. With extensive government and private use, the G17 has become a standard among full-size handguns. Austrian-made 9mm polymer pistols have seen widespread use since the 1980s. Whether you're a Glock fan or not, its reputation is undeniable.

Glock 17 Jam Issue

Glock released the Gen-5 lineup in 2017 as their last generation (as of when we published this article.) Each generation brings changes. Some of the changes to the Gen-5 G17 are minor, while others are notable. An improved barrel, no fingerprints, a beveled magazine well flared, and enhanced features are found on the Gen-5 models.

With a full frame and long barrel, the Glock 17 will serve well for most people. If you are used to shooting single-action pistols, the G17 should be considered a shotgun. Not exactly - but you get the idea.

When I was first handed the Gen-5 Glock 17 for this review, I felt right at home with it – not that different from the Gen-4 Glock 17 I own. The changes are not different and the fit of the hand is the same, except for the fingers.

As with other bells, the image is separated and the beauty is intact. The ergonomics and features found in Glocks are things that people either love or hate.

Review: Glock 17

I immediately noticed the flared magazine, which is something you'd see on a Gen-4 G17. For many people, this is a nice touch to make quick and easy book changes.

My experience with the Gen-5 Glock 17 in general has been very positive and delivered surprisingly well. For this review, I ran several hundred different types of bullets through the G17. All ammo ran smoothly - including the Federal Premium 147 gr. HST ammo I tried.

In terms of accuracy, I'm very impressed with the G17 beyond 25 yards. Reloading is something I know and appreciate when shooting. This is something I'll touch on a bit, but it's a big improvement.

Glock 17 Problems

From a concealment perspective, I don't see much of an attempt to carry a concealed G17. If you're not a big person, the image may be difficult to hide properly without large layers. With that being said, I think that the picture can work well for the waist under a skirt. Do you want to carry the bell and want something small? Check out the Glock 19 or the Glock 43.

New Glock 17ms Recalled Because The Slides Fell Off

One of the most common complaints I hear about bell-shaped pistols is about the base. Most people aren't happy with regular bell ringing - including me. While the stock loaders are manageable in my opinion, the standard aftermarket options are a nice touch with Glocks.

The improvements to the Gen-5 G17 trigger assembly are notable to me. The clear draw and visible break is a real help at the range when I'm shooting at a distance. A standard shield is built into the base. The shooter must press the trigger in order to fire the shot. I found a new fix and allowed me to quickly return to the "wall" for follow-up photos.

My testing of the Gen-5 G17 used for this review shows an average draw weight of 5.4 pounds — right on par with the advertised draw weight.

I was fortunate enough to avoid Glock polymer models for this review. We know this to be true - polymer stock models are common and difficult to shoot with. The model I tested was equipped with Ameriglo night monitors. Although not my favorite features, they worked well for me.

Review] Elite Force Glock 17 Gen. 4

The silver sight post combined with the finned out rear is a solid iron sight set up for me. I know I need to find a lower one but otherwise there is no problem with the provided guides.

Of all the handguns on the market, Glock is best known for their simple design and functionality. The Gen-5 Glock 17 provides an accurate and enjoyable shooting experience. I really enjoy shooting Glock handguns and have had no major problems with the design. That's not to say I don't have things that would be different.

One of the unique features of the Gen-5 G17 is the ambidextrous slide release. I thought it was odd considering he was right under my thumb in the picture as a right handed shooter. A reversible magazine release is shown in the Gen-5 photo. This just goes to show the inclusive level that Glock is aiming for.

Glock 17 Problems

While the Gen-5 G17 frame and slide offered a decent amount of texture and grip, I found myself wondering how good it would have been to have the original slide serrations. I thank Glock for listening to comments and throwing fingers here. A "one size fits all" approach does not apply when it comes to creativity.

Glock 17 Gen 4 Vs Gen 5

As I mentioned earlier, the Glock 17 embodies the idea of a staple gun for many with its easy recoil control. My ability to find sights for follow up shots seems to be better with the Glock 17. Whether that is due to practice with Glocks or not is debatable.

I conducted a muzzle velocity test as part of this review with Federal Premium HST 147 Gr. Guns - a standard self-defense round. For this test, I used a Labrador device and fired 5 rounds as my test group. I'll preface the results by saying that Federal advertises a muzzle velocity of 1,000 feet per second from a 4″ barrel.

My test showed a muzzle velocity of 1,004 feet per second — right in line with the ammunition's published specifications.

It's very hard to go wrong with a bell line - from my experience. The Gen-5 Glock 17 offers undeniable value for the price and is sure to perform when you need it. Glock options may not look the best or all bells, but they work in almost all environments and gun styles.

Accessories and aftermarket parts are available for Glock pistols due to their popularity in the market. Finding the right holsters and lights is no longer a problem in today's business.

Thousands of law enforcement and military personnel trust the Glock 17 with their lives every day—and a large number do so by choice. This is telling a good level of performance and performance if you ask me. For those in the market for a complete handgun, the Glock 17 Gen-5 is a worthy competitor. Good luck having one in stock. As many of you have read my recent articles, I have always been a bit of an iron man. I don't think it's enough with what I have: a Gunsmith-tuned Nork Commander 1911 in .45 ACP, a Taurus 689 VR 6-inch in .357 Magnum, and a Rock Island M202 in .38 Special.

Having been on campus for a little less than a year now and working from home, I have never felt the need to get a smaller unit for concealed carry, especially small made of plastic. I've always liked plastic guns.

Glock 17 Problems

But I'm a true blue gun enthusiast, and a person who likes to try something new every now and then like all red people, even when something is on sale, it's gone. I am interested in a Gen 4 Glock 17.

My local LGS is selling a Glock 17 Gen 3 for $400 and a Glock 17 Gen 4 for $450. Both are tempting offers - but if I had the cash to spare, I'm not sure I'd want either. one's boss. if you want
